Nassau County, Long Island (WABC)-The New York State Department of Health recommends that people in high-risk counties wear masks in all indoor public areas, regardless of vaccination status.

According to the CDC, the counties of Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Putnam, Orange, Dutchness, Sullivan and Ulster are currently considered high risk.

Most of New York City is listed at medium risk. Bronx is considered low risk.

In addition to high-risk counties, health officials say that anyone with a weakened immune system should remain masked while in public.

Some residents of Nassau County say they have moved forward, despite the risks.

Others do not understand that they are reluctant.

“If it worked before, do what it worked before,” said an unnamed resident of Nassau County.

New York has mask recommendations, but Blakeman states that he will not exclude mask orders in Nassau County, but claims that his own data is not close to supporting it. ..
