Testimony was revealed today that various Republican lawmakers have demanded an amnesty from then-President Donald Trump on the final day of the administration.

Five days after the riot, Republican Rep. Mo Brooks and Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz himself and “a senator who voted to refuse to vote for all members or the Election Colleges of Arizona and Pennsylvania.”

In a recorded testimony record presented at the hearing, Cassidy Hutchinson, a former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows’ former aide, Brooks and Gates were involved in the White House meeting on December 21. He said he advocated the full amnesty of the House members.

Specifically, Gates had sought amnesty since “early December,” Hutchinson said, and Andy Bigs, Louis Gomart, and Scott Perry also sought amnesty from the White House. Former White House aide John McEntee also said Gates had told him that he had sought a pardon from Meadows.

Hutchinson testified that he had heard that Georgia’s Marjorie Taylor Greene had requested an amnesty from the White House’s advisory office, but did not contact Greene about it. He was not forgiven.

“The only reason to seek amnesty is whether you think you’ve committed a crime,” Adam Kinzinger, one of the two Republicans of the Democratic Election Commission, said in a hearing today. “.

Eric Hirschman, a Trump White House lawyer, told the committee in a videotape interview that Gates sought amnesty “everything from the beginning of time to today.”

Gates did not deny this claim on Twitter, but said, “The January 6th Commission is an unconstitutional political sideshow. It is rapidly losing interest to the American people and is now a federal law enforcement agency for political opponents. Rely on killing. “

Hirschman said the “general tone” of the request “could be prosecuted for defending the president’s position on these matters.”
